Laser Eye Surgery has become very popular in this era, mainly because that it provides patients a quick relief. But like all medical procedures, laser eye surgery too comes with many risks. There are two types of laser eye surgery procedures, the LASIK and the PRK. PRK is the less complicated of the two procedures. Following is a brief account of the possible lasik eye surgery complications.

Percent chance of developing an infection in the Cornea after undergoing PRK surgery is present. The chance of getting this infection is even lower following the LASIK surgery procedure this chance is even lower. This particular infection only causes some level of discomfort to the patient and does not have any long term or serious effects. It may also cause some delay in the eye healing process after the surgery.

In some situations the response of the patient eyes is not predictable. As a result the eye surgery may not work the same way as it does on other patients, and the particular patient may have to use Correctional Lenses to make his vision better. Also, a second surgery is often performed in such cases to help the patient.

Individuals have often complained a reduction in their best obtainable vision after a Refractive Surgery is performed on them. This occurs beacuse of the development of Corneal Haze or due to the irregular tissue removal.

Corneal Haze occurs as part of the normal healing process after PRK surgery. The presence of Corneal Haze does really affect the patient’s vision; however its presence may in extreme cases blur the vision. The risk of the presence of corneal haze is lower in LASIK procedure as compared to the PRK procedure. Corneal Haze is removed by undergoing another Laser Eye Surgery.

In a few situations the need to undergo another surgery has arisen, after patients undergo a successful Refractive Surgery. This happens because the effects of the first eye laser surgery wear off within a couple of months.

Some patients have complained of experiencing Halo effect after a laser surgery was performed on them. Halo effect is an optical effect which is experienced in soft light. In soft light the pupil enlarges and the untreated peripheral cornea produces a second less sharp and faded image. This effect hinders night-time driving.
